Pirates & Princesses

I am in love with this absolutely beautiful party by the talented Cake Ink. Events. Isabel celebrated her birthday party with 8 little friends with just enough sugar without having them bouncing off the walls" ! Janelle did a fabulous job at styling the celebration, I love the soft colour palette and the dessert table details, including the net draped over the table, the anchor cookies threaded with twine, the intricate cupcakes and cake. We also heart the pink stripey straws from Mon Tresor, sitting in the cute mini glass bottles filled with pink lemonade. Oh and I am loving the lolly bags & banner too! x

Christmas Dessert Inspiration

Okay, so I have an aching toothache, and cannot wait another day longer to get to my dentist. I won't reveal how long I haven't been to the dentist for, it's quite embaressing really.

So call me crazy, but I have just spent a short time perusing the internet and gorgeous blogs for some Christmas desserts inspirations, as we all know Christmas is literally around the corner- 10 weeks away! I don't know about you, but I have not even started my Christmas shopping list, but I have decided on my colour palette for the joyous season! Last year I spent up BIG on gorgeous turquoise, red and white decorations to be placed meticulously on my white Christmas tree. I can't wait to do it all again this year!

Tradtionally we celebrate Christmas Eve at our place, with the house covered in Christmas lights (think Griswald's style!) and the Christmas music blaring, a bbq and desserts. The children have a ball and hand out candy canes to passers by. Then once the boys have had their bath and organised the cookies plate, milk and letter to Santa, & carrot sticks for the reindeer, we tuck the excited little cherubs in and then frantically begin to wrap presents and "build" the toys. Why oh why do we do the "building of the toys" every Christmas eve! I am sure I am not alone :)

Here are some delicious desserts I found which I am sure you too will just love! I cannot wait to start baking and making for the Christmas season! Do you have a favourite Christmas recipe? Would love for you to share Xx

eat.pray.love

Travelling to Italy to eat and taste good food.
India to pray in an ashram.
Bali to look for love.

A story about Elizabeth Gilbert's journey about rediscovering herself.

Despite the mixed reviews, I found it heartening & enlightening and although I cannot make a journey as such in my life right now, I can still take the time to find the beauty, pleasure, devotion and fulfillment in life and to be grateful  for the people in my life right now. I love the thought of having an "inner smile" that can do wonders for the mind, body and soul. So simple, yet so extremely effective.

There were many scenes which touched me personally and I believe that many of us can relate to the journey of writer Elizabeth Gilbert's personal experiences.

Clearing the mind to meditate and find your balance.
Still life, smiling, good food and taking care of you.

My still life salad? A plate with camembert, proscuitto, boiled egg, rocket, olives and pepper crackers...
What would yours have?
Xx

A Cherry On Top- Maddox's Ice Cream Parlour Party

My little munchkin turned 3 today! And to celebrate his 3rd birthday, we had our close family over on the weekend for an Ice- cream parlour party! The weather turned out just perfectly and all the late nights filled with planning and preparing details for Maddox's party all fell into place.

Inspired by Maddox's most favourite dessert- ice cream, the colour palette resembled the neopolitan ice cream flavours {strawberry, chocolate and vanilla} I added a dash of pale blue too as I loved the combination of those colours! And let me tell you I was SUPER excited to be able to add in hints of 'pink'- I have 2 boys!

The dessert table was styled with a blue ruffled/tiered tablecloth, inspired by my lovely friend Katie of The Ivory Social. This created the vintage, shabby chic ice cream parlour theme that I was after. Add in some gorgeous cake stands, {Sharnel Dollar} apothecary glass jars filled with colour co-ordinated candy and custom made dessert labels I created, the table began to come together.

Because of my love for all things French, I simply had to indulge in macaroons and take home ice cream sundae cookies from the uber talented Hello Naomi. The personalised chocolates wrapped in a classic pinstripe and pink grosgrain ribbon by Candy Soirees, tied in with the theme beautifully. The birthday cake was a simple homemade vanilla and strawberry 3 tiered cake, topped with cream cheese frosting. It was adorned with my latest most favourite little detail- a mini cake bunting, by the delightful Kikilaru. The children had their own table, set with fresh flowers, a chocolate tablecloth and damask trimming. Mini pinwheels were placed on the palm leaf plates, reminiscent of chocolate ice cream and wafers.

The guests were treated with neopolitan ice cream flavours and could create their own ice cream sundaes or cones at the vintage inspired ice cream parlour using liquid toppings, sprinkles and of course,cherries!
A fabulous time was had by all and the children enjoyed the traditional pass the parcel game as well as having some fun on a jumping castle.

At the conclusion of the celebration, I leant over to Maddox and asked him if he enjoyed his party, and his reply was giving me a huge wet kiss! Too sweet! Xx

Charming Bee Party

I have been finding alot of beautiful children's parties lately and sharing them with you on my blog. Perhaps it is because I am in party mode myself, with Maddox's 3rd birthday celebration this weekend.

Here is another beautiful party I simply have to share with you. The ever so talented Katie from the Ivory Social created this elegant Bee inspired 1st birthday party for her adorable son. The buttercup yellow and grey colour palette with hints of coral are just perfect and tie in wonderfully with the luscious green grass.

 Lots of inspiring elements and favourites of mine include the honey jars etched with 'thank you' and topped with material and divine twine, the beautiful chic macaroon tower and bumble bee cake pops {both made by Katie herself!} and I also love the use of the grass mats and mini woodchip baskets to create a picnic table with fresh fruit. And of course the absolutely gorgeous dessert table featuring elegant cake stands and desserts complimenting the party theme and topped off with the perfect ''bee inspired'' backdrop from the talented Nathalie at Imprintables.

{The latest trend-  a box filled with treats for the children & personalised chocolate wrapped bars}

{The perfect setting and I am loving the handmade ruffled picnic rugs}

 {Grass mats complete the look on the fruit table}

{Buttercup yellow and white tissue chandilier and popcorn filled baking cups}

Well done Katie, you have styled yet another gorgeous party with a dessert table that is 'beyond'!

A Spoonful of Sugar~ Party Mary Poppins Style

Waking up to a grey and chilly Saturday morning in Sydney, I had my latte with one and began my 'blog reading' and discovered this fantastic party from one of my all time favourite childhood movies.

I love {Mary Poppins} as a party theme. Such a classic story, much like Alice in Wonderland. Take a look at these lovely details from a gorgeous little party courtesy of here.
