A New Little Direction for Mon Tresor in 2012

This post has been one in the works for a little while now I know, but as you can imagine life is always so busy, there is never really a quiet moment!

I would love to let all of my Mon Tresor customers and supporters know- including the lovely friends & other gorgeous businesses I have met because of Mon Tresor through blogging & Facebooking- the direction that I will be focusing on in the New Year. This change will allow me to spend creative ''work'' time with Mon Tresor, and more importantly allow me to dedicate and spend more quality time with my boys {while they are still young!}  Our online store will no longer stock a wide range of party products, instead we will be concentrating purely on party printables & our own range of Mon Tresor party products.

We have had a tremendous amount of support and a wonderful reaction to our party printables this year that are available in store (both premade designs and custom designs).  This will be one of the areas of focus for Mon Tresor in 2012.

Another area we will devote our time to is on the collection of Mon Tresor party products which has proven to be extremely popular in both gorgeous online and b&m stores. We thank you for your support and we will continue to provide you with these quality Mon Tresor party products to pretty & sweeten up your special event. If you would like to find out more information about our wholesale range, please send me an email.

And lastly, we will continue to offer our party & dessert table styling service for your birthdays, kitchen teas, christenings, bridal showers, weddings & more. This is another area that I am extremely passionate about and this year I had the pleasure of working with a number of clients and styling dessert tables for their special events.

Our online store will therefore stock only our party printables, Mon Tresor party collection and a small range of party staples.

Keep a look at for our upcoming online store SALE as we clear current stock & I thank you again for your continued support.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and safe New Year 2012.

Sweet table contest submissions round 5

Simone's Rainbow themed dessert table

Simone from Melbourne created this  colourful, bright and cheery rainbow party for her daughter Tessa's 4th birthday. As told by Simone, 'True to our theme, the heavens opened and a downpour the morning of our afternoon soiree ensured it became an indoor affair rather than the planned outdoor occasion –eeek!. I love that rainbow parties are in vogue at the moment and wanted to explore the gorgeousness of rainbows and their vibrant colours'.

Simone's Easter dessert table

Simone from Mackay in North Queensland has entered her Easter themed dessert table. It was set up for her family and friends and Simone hand crafted many of the props and sweets. She was inspired by a sunny vintage homemade Easter with soft vintage colours of apple green, musk pink, baby blue and white. As told by Simone, ''I went to op-shops and used many pieces I found there like doilies and old glass items. I wanted to make it as authentic and homemade as possible''.

Sophie created this Paris themed dessert table for her 6 year old daughter, Harriet. Harriet is in love with all things Paris, so it seemed an obvious choice for her birthday this year. I know Paris parties are generally red, white and blue and that was my initial choice. But when I saw this gorgeous print on Etsy I knew it had to be pink, white and black''.

Leah's vintage garden dessert table
Lastly, Leah created this vintage garden party dessert table for her daughter and she incorporated soft pastels with some brights for a vinty, whimsical feel.

If you would like to submit your dessert table and you are NOT a professional stylist or baker, please send one photograph of your table with a short blurb to suzanna@montresor.com.au.
Competition submissions are due by December 11th.

Christmas Tree Fun

I know we are only a few days away from Advent & that time of year when we begin to prepare for Christmas & celebrate Jesus' birth, but my boys Kayden & Maddox were very eager to set it all up today.

With the Christmas carols playing in the background {including my favourite Sinatra tunes} the boys were happy little helpers as they went about fluffing out our white Christmas tree and adorning it with baubles and decorations. Usually I am quite pedantic & particular about how and where decorations are placed, but this year I sat back and let them take charge. I loved watching them decorate as they were filled with so much excitement and were all smiles.

This year I chose the colours of white, champagne, gold, turquoise and chocolate. I was inspired by the Christmas colours I spotted at Bergdorf Goodman during my recent trip to NYC. It is a fresh change from last year {turquoise & red}

Sweet Table Contest Submission, Round 4

We have had an influx of submissions for the Sweet Table Contest for 2011. So, let's get the posts rolling! Here are our first three submissions. Enjoy!

An from Northern Australia designed this dessert table for her daughter's birthday party. A woodland forest theme was the inspiration, along with natural colours of the forest, tied in with red.

Next up we have Rachel, who created this dessert table using a colour palette of classic pink and chocolate for her daughter Charlotte's 5th birthday. Charlotte was given a cockatiel for Christmas and developed a love of birds, which inspired the theme for the table.

Sonia from Melbourne Australia styled this dessert table and it was her first time. Sonia was inspired from the Alannah Rose invitations 'Take me to the fair'. Sonia baked all the desserts herself!

Kristy created this pink and purple dessert table for her daughter's 4th birthday party. Her daughter's favourite colours are pink and purple so it seemed fitting to base the desserts and candy along with decorations with these colours.

Charli's 1st Birthday- Styled by Mon Tresor & Sweets by Couture Cupcakes

Dessert table styled by Mon Tresor

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! The weather in Sydney was sublime and I spent some time with my family by the water, as well as styling this dessert table for a client- her daughter Charli's 1st Birthday. The brief was a Halloween inspired table, so because it was for a gorgeous little girl I wanted to create a table that was 'Halloweeny' but not too scary! And, a table that had a touch of vintage & whimsy.

The colours I decided on were green, orange, black and white. The burlap material was just perfect and helped to create that natural & vintage feel. Along the table I used many different props that included some glitter halloween skulls, pumpkins, moroccan tea glasses filled with baby's breath, a shabby chic white cake stand, a vintage wooden box and a witches broomstick.

The touches of different lace and ribbon strands draped along the front of the table helped to soften the table. My backdrop featured a paper fan in mint chevron design & I hung a pennant banner across it with Charlí's name. (available at Mon Tresor)

Printable pennant banner available at Mon Tresor

The stunning cake was made by the gorgeous Marie from Couture Cupcakes & Cookies, along with the boo! cookies, mint green chevron cookies and the lovely bat cupcakes.

mint green scallop boxes- designed by Mon Tresor

The mint green scallop boxes by Mon Tresor were perfect on the table and make a great box to fill with sweets at the conclusion of a party. These were embellished with personalised name tags designed by me & available through my online store.

After setting up the table I was very happy with the result as it was something a little different to what I have done before. And of course, hearing the lovely feedback from the client was definately the icing on the cake!

My Trip to NYC: Meeting Amy Atlas & Lisa

It feels like forever since I first boarded the plane headed for NYC in September this year. Longing for a much needed girly trip and wanting to take some time out of my busy schedule, my sister and I decided that Manhattan was the definately the perfect destination.  Whilst we were there, we shopped like crazy and could not get enough of the variety of products across all stores, we did alot of sightseeing,- which included a night visit to the top of the Empire State Building, (amazing!) we watched a Yankees game,(one of my favourite experiences EVER)  saw Mary Poppins on 42nd St, (words cannot describe) and we were part of the live studio audience for the season premiere of The Martha Stewart Show!(more on that in my next post!) With all that being said, what could possible top that? The opportunity to meet the amazing Amy Atlas, Styling Queen of all dessert tables & the lovely Lisa from the Sweet Team! (insert squeal!)

I was most grateful that Amy & Lisa took some time out of their very busy and hectic schedules to meet up with my sister and I, in the Upper East Side. Initially, I was feeling quite nervous, I could not believe that I was about to meet Amy- someone who constantly inspires me & opened my creative mind to the dessert table and styling world two years ago. Those feelings of nervousness and anxiety  quickly disappeared the moment I met both Amy & Lisa and we sat and had a chat about all things desserts, styling, parties and of course the soon to be released Book & possible upcoming trip to Australia.

Thank you so much Amy & Lisa for your time, it was wonderful to sit and chat and it is a moment that I will  cherish x

Sweet Table Contest Submission, Round 2

As you all know, I am the Australian Judge for the Sweet Table Contest for 2011. So far, we have had three fabulous dessert table submissions, and I am pleased to announce we have another threewonderful submissions, styled by Aussie mums (non-professional bakers/ stylists).

First up, we have the wonderful Melbournian Sharon, who recently styled a Spa & Pamper party dessert table for her daughter Sophie's 10th birthday. As told by Sharon, "Sophie had her heart set on a Pink & Blue (polka dot) theme so we started with the Invitation and went from there. I designed the dessert table in these colours even making the party food and birthday cake to match. I also painted and decorated a white tree with gifts for all the girls to match our theme".

Secondly, we have Melissa's submission- a black & hot pink disco party dessert table, created for her daughter's 10th birthday. As told by Melissa, "my daugher was  turning 10 this year and asked for a pink and black disco party. I colour themed her party food and the table included pink and black jelly beans, strawberry filled oreo’s, rocky road with pink and black swiggles, pink wafers, marshmallows, pink jelly, pink eggs and cake pops and of course some disco balls. This was my first attempt at making cake pops and they were a huge hit with the kids. They were time consuming but worth all the effort!
The kids had a blast with the DJ and danced up a storm. They all came wearing pink or black and played limbo, musical statues, musical bobs and danced to old favourites
such as the Macareena,Chicken Dance,Bob the Builder, Nutbush City Limits and YMCA. Kayla’s favourite song though was Katy Perry’s Firework".

Thirdly, we have the lovely Mirela's dessert table submission for her son Ayden's Spooktacular Halloween inspired table.Because her son Ayden was born a day before Halloween, Mirela thought that a dress up Halloween themed party seemed fitting. She was inspired by the colour palette of black and orange and Mirela incorporated lots of spiders and eerie bats!
